Burlingame Downtown Lot Development

The City of Burlingame owns and operates 20 surface parking lots distributed throughout the Downtown area. The Burlingame Downtown Specific Plan, centered on the Burlingame Avenue and Howard Avenue commercial areas, encourages mixed-use and/or residential development to maintain and enhance the vibrant pedestrian-oriented shopping area. Since parking is extremely important to the Downtown’s vitality, the RFQ states that any new developments must provide for the replacement of public parking spaces either at the development site or at another location. Thus, there will be no net loss of parking downtown.
