Burlingame Recycling Ordinance

Main Info
Summary:

The City of Burlingame has a Recycling Ordinance that requires completion of a Waste Reduction Plan prior to the issuance of a Building Permit. The California Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989 requires all California cities and counties to divert half of their waste from landfill. In order to meet this goal, Burlingame has adopted Ordinance No. 1704. This ordinance requires that 60% by weight of all waste generated from demolition and new construction be reused and/or recycled. Further, a minimum 25% of structural material (excluding concrete, asphalt and dirt) must be recycled.
